There was a signal station on Berry Head for communicating with ships operated by the Admitalty and, probably later on, by Lloyds. It looks as though it was out of use by 1875. It was nothing to do with the railway.

There is a signaller job advertised for Paignton but with a Brixham postcode, I spoke to a lady in Recruitment and said the job location was Brixham, the only place I could think of was along the line of the steam railway but I gather that isn't Network Rail.

Good grief, but then nothing more than once expects of Network Rail nowadays! Paignton Signal Box is within the station building at Paignton: on the Up (west) side I think.

The only alternative is the steam railway, but they don’t get nearer than Churston and would be advertising any jobs separately, if at all (more likely to take on from volunteers). Effectively, Brixham has nothing to do with Network Rail.

Presumably it's a typo. Paignton signal box is in TQ4 (vs. the job ad which states TQ5, which is Brixham).
