I have family coming from North America over Christmas and they wish to travel by train in UK including from Heathrow to the north.

Options to save cost seem to include a family rail card and BritRail.

I can’t find out the cost of BritRail so I can help them choose as the pages are blocked to UK users.

Can anyone help?

Does BritRail offer any advantages over a Eurail ticket? BritRail seems much more expensive.

Heathrow Express is valid on Britrail but not on Interrail/Eurail.

Also Britrail is more user friendly as it has no requirement to log journeys to a diary or complicated app.

How much if any those are worth is another matter.

More expensive, yes. But much, much easier to use.

It's an eticket so a single .pdf download works everywhere (yep, even on "no etickets" Merseyrail). If you do lots of boards/alights -- like I do: 338 in 31 days this last June -- it's much easier than having to input each individual journey on Eurail's Rail Planner app.

However, if you're just going to make a handful of journeys Eurail/Rail Planner works fine. I used it without issues to cover the entire Iarnrod Eireann/Translink network in 10 days this last May.
