Britrail pass validity period changed?

Hello

Do any of you within the industry know why some Britrail options have apparently been removed? In previous years there were 'x days in two months' options but now there seems to be only 'x days in one month'.

Euro passes are "x days in one month". Passes bought in other parts of the world are "x days in two months".

Where did you buy yours from?

I'm sitting in Hong Kong right now trying to sort one out for a friend here. I've gone through britrail and cap and have the one month options only.

We strive to do our best.

When you are on the BritRail website (ACP Int website I use), make sure that your country setting in the top right corner is correct. This could affect the tickets offered.

Other than that, I won't know, sorry. HK should be offered the two month ones.

I've just checked, and it does appear that only the 1 month options are being offered. Checked by browsing from a few different countries, all show only the 1 month options. See attachments:

bnm, yes that's exactly what I did (except acp came out as cap on autocorrect in my post.....)

So it's not just me.....

Raileurope who are a part of sncf are also describing and listing the passes as 1 month only.

Looks like they have altered them to match the European product.

Also the britrail.com site which used to host the acp britrail site has now changed to a portal site for the passes run by national rail/atoc. It gives several options for purchasing but only acp and raileurope seem to be valid, the trainline site just links through to acp.

Funny that, I only bought some last month for my sister and they were still the 2-month versions.

My apologies. I will ask the travel agent and find out a bit more about it.

Dear Xxx. The BritRail range was re-launched on 1st January 2015. Part of this re-launch included a streamlining of the products offered and the decision was taken to offer all passes within one month validity.

Dear Yyyy Thank you for a prompt reply. No doubt you have the figures for sales etc. but I think that's a shame. It is not uncommon for friends of mine to have 6 week itineraries ( though I accept two months/9weeks is rare) and I think the appeal of two x one monthly passes will be less and much more expensive. I'm not sure people with two month passes do that much more travelling anyway - they just spread it out a bit more!

Thanks. Indeed it is a shame. The two month ones offer a lot of flexibility and were incredibly useful. Much less so with one month ones.

They also seem to have got rid of the 3-day Euro ones which I thought I remembered seeing last year; now if you need 3 days you have to pay for 4.

I received my Britrail pass for my trip in May and it is 15d in 2mths.

Purchased from the Visit Britain online store and priced at £440.
