Interestingly this makes no mention of the Irish CIE or NIR. I went to Ireland in 1980 and I’m sure I got reduced rate travel then.

I have a vague recollection that when I first went to Ireland in 1980 you could use your standard BR free travel card to buy privs on CIE and NIR. Still, it is forty plus years ago, so my mem..thingy may be wrong.

That is correct I did in 1976
