Back on pre Channel Tunnel days, when you bought a copy of the all line timetable, you got the European Supplement. This had connections from the UK to cities across Europe. They had to use ferry connections to get from UK to mainland Europe.

Does anyone have one? Has anyone seen one for sale. I would love a paper or scan of one from about 1980.

The hours I spent thinking of travelling on the trains to Moscow, Belgrade or Lisbon..

Feel free to mention you own memories of this booklet.

I've got one from around then, same format as the GB all-line timetable (the large format ones before they shrunk the print size) but way thinner. It shows services and connections from GB to continental Europe. Sorry, not for sale!
Might have time to scan a couple of sample pages tomorrow if you're interested.

I think it varied in format...

A quick look on Timetable World (under Europe or International) shows the Southern Rly Continental TT of summer 1939, but none BR (unless they're included in the GB ones), but does have a number of Cook's (Europe and Overseas) and, going back, Continental Bradshaws. Both of which tell you how you might get around once you were across the Channel, rather being restricted to connecting services from GB.

In the '80s a much more comprehensive book was produced (which had to be purchased separately). As well as train / boat connections from the UK it had a write up on each country, and details of the principal internal main-line services. It is quite nostalagic to look at Spain, for example, and see how bloomin' long it took to get from Madrid to Seville or Barcelona!

If someone has one I can borrow to scan that would be awesome.

Know its a big ask.

I use a book scamner, not flat bed. Its a CZUR ET16.

I would share any scan with Timetable World and give full credit to the owner.

Trying to help a little here .

I have all the covers etc up on my website for the 1974 through to 1986 issues , and copies of all issues for sale

Transport Past Times - Look in the main Great Britain Timetables then go to British Rail International

Below are scans to show the changes in style and size

So 1979/80 - slightly smaller than A4
1981 A4 size
1982 onwards now landscape and approx A5
Maps where always bigger then the BR Standard , but seem to stop in 1980/81
