Hi,
Can anyone confirm that British India Line will be used on the "Great Britain XI" tour, York to Carlisle leg on Friday 20th April. All the website I have checked say "yes", but I'm getting some negatives from my railway colleagues.

The loco has since had successful outings and hauled a charter to Chester last month, so I can't see there being any issue here. Time will tell though!

Apologies for straying slightly off topic, but reported elsewhere that 60009 has now been ruled out of the GB XI trip this weekend (firebox issues have been mentioned, but I can't confirm that myself).

Many years ago when I was a volunteer at the Mid Hants, British India Line was a kit of parts owned by a friend of mine and was stored at the side of Ropley shed (where the wheeldrop is now).
I’m still having to pinch myself at times when I see pictures of it on the mainline now.

Question for our younger members though (yes I know that this isn’t the quiz section, but it’s worth mentioning ):
35018 has a particular claim to fame from its BR days. Does anyone know what it is..?

35018 was the first of the class to be rebuilt by BR without chain driven valve gear - is that a claim to fame?

I am slowly rediscovering my boyhood interest in steam, just booked my 2nd mainline railtour with my Dad having taken him on one around the Cumbrian Coast last year.

Is she planned for anymore rail tours in the coming months? Tried to nab the ‘The Great Britain XI’ at Leeds the other day but couldn’t step out of work.
