Britain has been told it must pay an extra €2.1bn (£1.7bn) into the European Union budget by the end of next month because the UK economy is doing better relative to other European economies.
The demand is certain to be used against David Cameron by the growing camp who want the UK to quit the EU.

What a nice little boost to UKIP and what a clever little trick.
Apparently Juncker was incandescent when Cameron opposed his forthcoming job as president-elect of Europe.

Within 2 days Juncker has rubbished the Tory plan of immigration reform and today drops another bombshell.
Make the Tory party unelectable, by default labour become the Govt - no referendum - the United States of Europe becomes ever closer.
Millibands mansion tax and bankers bonus tax gone in a stroke.

I have just heard Barosso on the radio saying the money is needed because Europe has now started including the black economy in it's figures.
So prostitution, drug running ,extortion ,organised crime, handling stolen property, etc. now included in the figures. Why haven't they then considered the cost of policing those things to offset the problems of the above occuring.

It cannot be a coincidence that suddenly they have decided that we haven't been paying them enough cash since 1995 and want it within days of the Rochester by-election which is an absolute must-win for the Conservatives.

The Tories are already 13 points behind UKIP in Rochester which a couple of weeks ago was seen as a very difficult UKIP win. Farage is the only party leader with momentum which is so essential coming into an election.

And so UKIP gains more support. Wonderful. :|

It doesn't matter how many times the BBC and the left rubbish him and his party they're gaining support all the time and are the only party with momentum.

No small wonder there was a picture of Nigel Farage and Juncker laughing their socks off together a couple of days ago

http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgu...iact=rc&uact=3&dur=538&page=1&start=0&ndsp=16

Vote Farage for PM :D

ps I know this is an old pic but the latest doesn't seem to be available

In that picture it looks like Farage is getting his man bits squeezed

I think the fact is that the more they rubbish him the more votes he will gain, UKIP don't need to campaign for themselves as the rest are doing it all for them, thank you very much indeed

A question though for those that do actually rubbish UKIP, what have the others got to offer ?, everyone, on this forum at least, seem to hate the Tories, the true Labour party don't exist any more and the Lib Dems are far more of a joke than UKIP could ever be, so what makes UKIP unelectable ?

The BBC seems to be making every effort not to rubbish UKIP, they got a disproportionate share of airtime when they had no MPs.

I do however believe their recent Panorama on Mr. Farage and Ukip accounted for more than half of the complaints they have received this year.

And the French get a €1Billion rebate. The same French Government that intend to flout EU rules on their deficit. The PM should have two words for the EU commission, Go Whistle.

The UKIP person on Questiontime yesterday evening was a total disaster - if they keep putting up swivel-eyed idiots like her they will blow it.

Len McCuskey was brilliant by the way. dont agree with all he said but he chopped up the Tory into mincemeat by the end of the programme.

Indeed. I haven't seen it but that wouldn't surprise me as they don't help themselves at times. Same with things like the horrifically cringeworthy 'People's Army'. I mean seriously?!

so what makes UKIP unelectable ?

Amongst other things (all taken from UKIP's website):

– UKIP will leave the EU and save at least £8bn pa in net contributions.

– UKIP will cut the foreign aid budget by £9bn pa, prioritising disaster relief and schemes which provide water and inoculation against preventable diseases.

– UKIP will scrap the HS2 project which is uneconomical and unjustified.

– UKIP will abolish the Department of Energy and Climate Change and scrap green subsidies.

– UKIP will abolish the Department for Culture Media and Sport.

– UKIP will leave the EU, and take back control of our borders. Work permits will be permitted to fill skills gaps in the UK jobs market.

– We will extend to EU citizens the existing points-based system for time-limited work permits. Those coming to work in the UK must have a job to go to, must speak English, must have accommodation agreed prior to their arrival, and must have NHS-approved health insurance.

– UKIP will repeal the Climate Change Act 2008 which costs the economy £18bn a year.

– There will be no new subsidies for wind farms and solar arrays.

– UKIP will abolish green taxes and charges in order to reduce fuel bills.

– We will scrap HS2.

– UKIP will withdraw from the jurisdiction of the European Court of Human Rights.

– UKIP will reverse the government’s opt-in to EU law and justice measures, including the European Arrest Warrant and European Investigation Order. We will replace the EAW with appropriate bi-lateral agreements.

– We will repeal the Human Rights Act and replace it with a new British Bill of Rights. The interests of law-abiding citizens & victims will always take precedence over those of criminals.

– Repeal the Agency Workers Directive.

UKIP are tapping into a sentiment in this country that is echoing the nationalism that has been seen in Scotland. Even if people don't want to break up the UK, the idea of getting away from rule from Brussels is as attractive as the desire to get away from London rule is to some in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

I don;t have any problem with UKIP wanting to leave the EU. At least they are offering something the others are not. I do have a problem with most of their other policies, though. And I think it;s those that will mean the general goodwill and support they are receiving now will dissipate come the general election.

But their mere existence and current popularity is in itself having an effect of the policies of the main parties. That is what history may describe as their biggest achievement.

As far as I'm concerned there's an awful lot of positives in that list

Ending Freedom of Movement would be a disaster for those of us who want to live and work in other EU countries. At the moment it is easy but if the UK left the EU or even just abandoned Freedom of Movement, if you wanted to work in our neighbouring countries it might be as difficult for us as it would be from someone from outside Europe. I would probably be alright as I'm relatively well educated etc. but the majority of Brits would be stuck in the UK and maybe Ireland. Even retiring to Spain could become difficult.

Without a doubt, some will see that list as being largely positive. Others will see the list and believe that there won't be much of the planet left for future generations if climate change is actually assisted by the actions of humanity.

You pays your money and you makes your choice. None of us will be around to see what happens anyway.

I know, that's what worries me. I just hope that UKIP turns out to be as "flexible" as the other parties when it comes to policy and their manifesto. At least now they're gaining momentum there's a chance that more people with their heads screwed on will join in and influence the party to take the edge off some of their policies.

Would it be possible to just, sort of, ignore their demands? It seems to be what all other EU nations do, when ver the EU rules something they dont like..

The more ridiculous by the hour Milliband has today said a crack-down on immigration will start within days of labour being elected.
Yes this is the labour party talking tough on immigration.

Labour party advisor Andrew Neather said 3 years ago:

Labour deliberately encouraged mass immigration in order to change the make-up of Britain – and they have almost succeeded! it is designed to ‘rub the Right’s nose in diversity’

I don't ever remember a labour manifesto containing this pledge.

Even retiring to Spain could become difficult.

That could swing a few votes. After all, a lot of people that probably dislike the EU and people daring to come and work here are probably well up for the idea of retiring to France or Spain.

Given our crazy house prices, if you ever want to truly appreciate the equity in your property, you either downsize massively and get some cash - or you go abroad.

Im not really an out and out supporter of any of the other parties . All of them have good policies , all of them have equally as bad policies . I live in a very safe labour seat so for me there is not a lot my vote can do anyway with first past the post . But I would much rather another Tory government which would be my least favored choice than UKIP getting anywhere near power .

The one thing the others have got to offer especially labour and the lib dems is no silly threats to leave the EU if they get elected or in the case of the Tories if we dont get our own way . And that for me means a lot more than anything that UKIP have to pledge .

The one thing that worries me if UKIP did gain power in this country though is what our removal from the EU would do to the economy . Numerous manufacturers and other big employers have pledged that if the UK did withdraw from Europe they would withddraw their business and instead conduct it on the continent . It makes sense there would no longer be any incentive to do business in the UK if it was not part of the EU . UKIP seem to be under some sort of distorted illusion that its 1922 again and the age of empire is in full swing . But the reality is if this country was not part of the EU we would be a laughing stock

The withdrawal of green levies is also a short sighted way of reducing energy bills and costs in energy generation . One that I do believe Cameron has also mooted . But the fact remains is that we need that investment in green business because eventually fossil fuels are going to run out , and even before that the using of fossil fuels us going to be precluded by some international treaty . Again do we really want to appear as some kind of backwards outsider nation tied to using a completely outdated method of producing energy when that does happen ? .

Do you think the Germans wouldn't sell us cars or the French wine if we were an Independent country again.

Considering the commonwealth is now a bigger trading area than Europe but have tariffs imposed to largely stop us trading with them those tariffs would be removed.

I think the concern is more about other nations buying stuff from us...

Heres the thing , of course we would still trade with our former EU partners . We would have to because aprox 50% of our export trade is with EU countries . The thing is we would then still be subject to many EU regulations on our exports . But we would not be part of the EU anymore so would have no say whatsoever in setting them . So is that more or less democratic ?

And you haven't even began to answer the question of what you would do to replace all of the jobs that would be lost when massive manufacturers withdraw from the UK if it left the EU .

Us buying cars made in Germany or Wine made in france doesnt give people in the UK jobs . And I wonder how many people would be left in this country who could afford such luxuries if employment was massively reduced .

I'd be interested to see how Farage would promote British culture without a government department responsible for promoting culture...

Regardless of my political views, I have major ethical issues with UKIP. Not least is their affiliation with the Polish far-right group Congress of the New Right in order to retain £1 million EU funding. Robert Iwaszkiewicz joined Farage's Europe of Freedom and Direct Democracy (EFDD) with Janusz Korwin-Mikke's blessing.

Korwin-Mikke claimed that the difference between rape and consensual sex is “very subtle” and said that Adolf Hitler was “probably not aware that Jews were being exterminated".

What a lovely bunch of people UKIP hang around.
