Why should NR take over. It makes sense for FGW to manage it as most services are theirs, with a few XC and a smattering of SWT

Network Rail are taking over Temple Meads from I believe Spring 2014, I'd expect new signage in line with other NR managed stations.

He isn't saying they should. They are taking over, that has already been stated by DfT. The OP is asking when.

I guess the existing staff at that station would just TUPE across to Network Rail?

There is little consistency across NR managed stations, despatch staff could well stay with FGW anyway, it depends what they decide is the best fit operationally.

Isn't there some major work planned at BTM in the near future? I believe the old Brunel trainshed is to be brought back into use. Has there been a timetable confimed for this work and is anything else planned? Also anyone know if the rather ugly parcel lift is to be removed at this time?

There will be more than painting and signing taking place at TM. The whole station is due for a complete revamp but whether in advance of the first IEP rolling in I am not so sure. There will be a new entrance at the east side of the station next to where the shell of the GPO building stands (just for instance).

Try this.

To add to the info above there's a section (on page 85) about it and the other work it interfaces with in the draft CP5 enhancements plan here: http://www.railforums.co.uk/showthread.php?t=94112

September 2017 - November 2018 is proposed for the work on site (GRIP 6).

I don't really think the station is in bad condition, I'd say it's pretty decent. It's recent had a new CIS system installed too, the old was rather dated.

I hope they don't start charging for the toilets as they do at quite a few other NR managed stations!

Will they get rid of the creepy creepy Portsmouth City Council bus adverts?

I thought I saw the last of those things years back, went to take a train from Bristol, and there they are!

The one on the platforms are always free just use those ones.

Are you writing about Leeds or Bristol? Bristol's (downstairs) used to stink in BR days but were fine last time I used them. You could get your haircut there too and I always wondered how the barbers put up with the smell.
