Hello all,

I would like to travel from Bristol to Edinburgh, but the normal route for this is via the ECML, however I'd like to go up the WCML. What would be the best way to accomplish this?

Thanks!

Probably to get the train from Bristol to New Street and change for the Edinburgh service (operated by Virgin). These depart every two hours at xx20 (eg: 0820, 1020, 1220, 1420, 1620, 1820).

By the way, thread moved as it's nothing to do with the Fares, Tickets & Routeing forum.

If you don't want to change at Birmingham New Street (I know it puts a lot of people off), get the Manchester Piccadilly train from Bristol Parkway and change at Wolverhampton.

It does add a lot to the journey time going that way though, so much of a better idea to storm up the ECML for Edinburgh. Glasgow, yes I'd suggest going via the WCML for obvious reasons (Glasgow via ECML is very boring)...
