Bristol Parkway to be rebuilt.

According to the BBC news website this station is going to be rebuilt. The brand new building will be accompanied by two parks and a business hub. It will be a place where people can work,meet friends and enjoy the outdoors.
The station was only rebuilt in 2001,is this new construction really needed? Surely there are other stations that would benefit from an expensive rebuild/update? Lawrence Hill and Parson Street spring to mind especially as they lack any universal access.

It's funded by the West of England Combined Authority (WECA), not Network Rail, so limited other places it could be spent in the area that aren't already being redeveloped, and also basically an add on to a happening nearby development.

I assume it's being built using the seemingly endless funding WECA seem to have found, maybe they do actually have a money tree. The amount spent on transport (Especially buses) in the area is massive.

I worked occassionally in the Parkway Mk1 towards the end of my railway career, to have a PW3 makes me realise how much has changed since I left.

I was surprised by how good the bus network was last time I was at Bradley Stokes. I assume it's quite recent, as I don't remember it from the mid-2010s?

The network hasn’t changed for a while and is shrinking a bit, but they’ve invested a lot in reducing ticket prices and currently on the bus stops.

I think (as a very infrequent visitor) it was the fancy tram-style bus stop which made me go 'ooh'!

Yep, and they are wanting to replace all of them already.
