Current progress with ipoints for the m1
  • Aztec West - none yet
  • Patchway Brook - Southbound in place
  • Willow Brook - Southbound in place
  • Webbs Wood - none yet
  • Great Meadow - Northbound in place
  • Great Stoke - Northbound in place
  • Harry Stoke - none yet
And shelters, the missing shelter at Great Meadow northbound is now up, but not finished. This just leaves Harry Stoke northbound to install.
A couple of days ago the only one in Patchway was at Fire Station towards Cribbs Causeway. The one at the Mall bus station is in situ, albeit not yet working (as of this afternoon).

All the price tags appear to be set so as to guarantee that they'll be turned down (And to give the Post plenty of Clickbait over the coming years! And the map appears to only include the original proposed extensions, not all of this latest list. I suspect there's lots of nice new roads included in most of the proposals as adding a few bus lanes dosent cost that much in money, just lots of votes from car drivers!

Bang on! We've had it before - people going on about the waste of the £230m or whatever for Metrobus, ignoring the fact that the money paid for a bypass for Stoke Gifford and the South Bristol Link that benefit more than buses. Already the SBL is filling up at peak!

I'd noticed the map even if the journo hadn't - at least it wasn't Tristan Cock writing it. It does look like they setting their stall out to keep this in the public eye for months and years to come, when in reality, it's more roads and the local authorities won't have the temerity to upset the car owners, and their divine right to drive their car into town and park it outside their house.

FWIW, I work in Emersons and the peak patronage is beginning to climb with 5/6 at each of the stops by EG, Willy Wicket, Science Park. Lower during the middle of the day naturally.

I saw one of the M2s as it passed the Louisiana approaching Wapping Wharf a few weeks ago about 1715 and it was absolutely rammed. Of course, that's one observation - previous one might not have run!

So, still no shelter or flag at Harry Stoke northbound (T1 and, next month, M1), but a shelter has appeared at Hunts Ground Rd, westbound (no buses in the short term)!

January changes now on Traveline.

m3: The night shorts become the sole journeys on the U3 (registered by First). Peak frequency increased to every 15 minutes, with alternate journeys in peak flow operating non-stop from Hambrook to Cabot as m3x.

m1: Every 10 minutes throughout from 6am to midnight Mon-Sat, every 20 minutes from 9am to midnight Sunday. Seems a late start on Sunday particularly for those working at Cribbs (first journey doesn't arrive at the Mall until 1006).

So it is exactly what I said in the other thread with the M3!

Thanks for posting that. Agree with you that the Sunday start is a bit late; an 0840 ex Hengrove departure would have made sense. However, we should be happy about a 10 minute service even at night. Means if one of the little s**ts misses with their brick, they won’t have to wait long to smash a window!!!!

I'm very happy. We moved here November last year, and our nearest bus stops were Parkway Station, about a 12 minute walk away, along a not-particularly-well-lit road (Hunts Ground Rd). In May, we gained the T1, 2 minutes away. Now we get the m1 too. Win win!!!

Every 10 minutes throughout the day is very impressive. I was expecting it to decrease in the evening

How are they getting on with installing iPoints in South Bristol? I was at Hengrove Park yesterday and I don't recall seeing one there.
And when are the gas buses due to arrive? I'm wondering whether they might appear on the BCT journeys on the T1/U3 before those disappear. Yesterday 1204 was on the U3, and the 17:03 T1, and turning away potential passengers at Cabot Circus as it was full and standing.

I counted 44 people on it :)

There's a couple of the new buses for the M1 parked in a yard by the motorway in Avonmouth

I see that Sunday 6 January is going to be free rides on the m1.
How many iPoints still need to be installed?

I've noticed that the price of buying a ticket from an iPoint (and presumably by virtue on the bus if the machine at the stop isn't working) costs MORE than buying a mTicket. What's the logic in this?

Also, how does the fare structure work? The m3 pdf says that a single zone is £1.50 and both zones £2.50, but the website doesn't mention two zones and just says its £2 flat fare (or more for an mTicket).

You cant pay on the bus. Bristol recently changed from two zones to one so the pdf is out of date.

First Bristol changed from an inner and outer zonal fares system to a flat fare for the whole Bristol zone last month. This applies to all routes, including Metrobus.

You can use a CPC onboard, if the machine isn't working. Your reply misses the the point somewhat, it makes no sense to charge more than on an iPoint.
