Evening all,

Unfortunately Bristol City Council appear to have sabotaged this year's Bristol Harbourside Bus Rally that was scheduled for Sunday 27th April. The following message has appeared on http://http://bcv.robsly.com/

Message from the organisers of the April 2014 Bristol Harbourside Rally

It is with great regret that the Harbourside Rally has had to be cancelled again this year. We were advised only a few days ago that there was an event taking place at the Amphitheatre on the following day (Monday) and that Bristol City Council would need access on the Saturday/Sunday to commence works, making it impossible for the event to take place. Please advise anyone who may have been planning to come.

Damn council. Anyone in Bristol with any degree of sense knows that, with the exception of the parks and engineering sections, Bristol City Council (too polite a name for them) are so demented that a monkey with half a brain could do a better job. If anyone needs proof, look at the way that traffic is (mis)managed in the city. BSC (abbreviation of what I like to call them) should go stage their event elsewhere.

I note, btw, that the website of Bristol City Council does not - at the time of writing this - advertise any event taking place on Sunday 27th April.

Dave

Ah that's a damn nuisance. Trust the damn Bristol City Council to go and put a stop to it. I was really looking forward to this year's event. Unlike some other people, I only do just the one Bus Running Day every year. And if the Bristol Harbourside event is on, then that's the one I do. Guess I'll have to find an alternative now.

Word of advice. The Bristol Vintage Bus Group Mini Running Days from Flowers Hill Depot(Brislington), I personally don't think are all that good. No set timetables for any of the very limited number of routes/services, and you could well be standing around waiting over half hour for a bus. Coincidentally the first of this year's Mini Running Days are on today. But as I said, not all that good. I won't be going!
