Hi all, I will have 3 spare hours in Brisbane onTuesday, can anyone recommend any good spots for filming freight? I have a Go card, and my nearest station is South Brisbane. Cheers!

Acacia Ridge is the main standard gauge freight terminal in Brisbane, near the suburban line out to Beenleigh. You can catch the train to Beenleigh from South Brisbane. Coopers Plains would be the nearest railway station I think, but it is a while since I went to Brisbane. The freight line deviates from the suburban line just south of Salisbury station.

Great thanks!

Went this aft, nothing through Coopers Plains, but Yeerongpilly about 3 stops towards Brisbane was OK. Saw 1 full and 1 empty coal train in a 1 hour period. Only managed to film the empty one. The freight line seemed to be dual gauge track, do they have trains of varying gauges running, or is this a live 3rd rail? Anyone know?

There is dual gauge track through Yeerongpilly. It was the location for a NSW standard gauge loco yard; now long gone. Freight on both gauges runs to the Port. Narrow gauge passenger services are to Beenliegh & the Gold Coast. The only standard gauge passenger service is the daily XPT to/from Sydney. This will be through there between about 4.00am & 6.00am.
