For anyone needing to cover the line, or just wanting a trip; on Saturday 16th of May 4 trains per day are operating on the line in each direction due to engineering works on the more common route via Scunthorpe.

One might have thought that a Retford stop would allow Doncaster <> Grimsby/Cleethorpes traffic to connect there.

Yes, well, if it's Northern (which it is) it will probably end up being a 2 car 150 or something similarly (potentially) inadequate. But then - it rather defeats the object of providing a "rail replacement" service using a train, if it isn't intended to do exactly that. Better to have engaged WCR or similar, perhaps.

Possibly, but the only problem with getting WCR traction is it would probably still end up with the same capacity as a 2car unit for the travelling public as the rest of it would be taken up by enthusiasts.

If they’re meant to replace TPX, then they ought to go non-stop from Sheffield to Habrough. It’s lovely that there’s a 22xx Brigg-Kirton Lindsey though.
