I am trying to i.d. a location. The photo dates to 1963 and shows a level crossing in Bridge Street, and the line is double-track. It must be I think in Wiltshire, Somerset or Devon, and could be say Berks & Hants, or SR main. Does anyone have any idea where it might be as I am scratching my head!

Yes, thanks. The photographer went down the A303 over Salisbury Plain and ended up at least in Honiton. I keep thinking it's the Berks & Hants. It isn't Taunton for sure! It has got to be in the west country I think.

Winchester Chesil? Not exactly west of Honiton though and I'm not even 100% certain it had a crossing.

Reliant Regal...the van version was my families runabout in the mid seventies:D

Thanks. Chesil station was it seems double-track as a lop on the single line. There was also a GWR signalbox there as well. There is in addition a Bridge Street in Winchester but I can see no evidence that there was a LC. I think the bridge went over the line?

A suggestion was St Blazey as that has a LC in Bridge Street, but I discount it now. The one serious possibility is Bridge Street Crossing, Northampton near Northampton Bridge Street Station. If that was the case then it was looking west from the north as the SB was to the left across the tracks. In the distance in the photo is a semaphore for the crossing.

This is the best I can do.

I have also found out that there is a Bridge Street LC in Ramsbottom on the ELR! Does anyone here know if the oppo view from the station would fit?
