Haaaay, what's that all about.

It's not as if the driver can blame having an unfamiliar abnormally high load since his cab didn't fit under the bridge. In fact, didn't he see it coming? It must be around head height.

nice. I see large road vehicles approaching that bridge and having to reverse back very regularly. its not even as if there aren't any warning signs for a low bridge :\

I've got a hi top transit on hire at the moment, as in process of moving house, and the height sticker in that says 2.6metres, so that would only just go under the bridge let alone that truck!

I can sometimes undertand it when the trailer hits a bridge but when not even the cab fits under!

This will become a less frequent occurrence after Ely North Curve works are complete and more trains timetabled.

- As the lorries at the crossing will tail back to the main road more often so causing a different 'jam'.

Of course, he'll get a few points on his licence, a fine maybe. He'll be back driving trucks into bridges in days. Rather than being banned for life like the danger to everyone he clearly is.

I'm wondering if the Soham councillors were deliberately standing on NR property as a big ''screw you'' to the railway that refuses to serve their town. Only their apology says things to the effect of ''we didn't know it was wrong'' three times and everybody knows it's wrong to stand on a railway line, even if you're not physically between the two rails.

Most bridge bashes involve a few cms and are down to the driver failing to appreciate the need to be aware of the height of his vehicle and to observe height restriction and warning signs.

But in this case one has to ask: what on earth was this guy on?

I lived in Ely a couple of years ago and that was the most hit bridge in the country. That driver is only doing what many before and many after him (will) have done...
