Hi,

I've booked an advance ticket from Brentford to Cardiff, late on Tuesday evening - changing at Feltham and Reading.

Without checking I think my train out of Brentford is at 21:53 and I then have 10 minutes to change at Feltham and 13 minutes to change at Reading.

I collected my ticket today, however the only reservation I have is for the Reading - Cardiff leg, presumably because this is the only train in my journey that allows reservations.

If either of my first two trains are delayed and I miss a connection, would I be allowed to get a later train out of Reading?I'm just wary because my ticket doesn't actually specify what time train I should get at either Brentford or Feltham, so could a guard argue it was my responsibility to get make my reservation at Reading?

Thanks

Yes, if you were delayed while travelling, you will be allowed to take the next service. I take it that your train is the 2323 from Reading. If so, as this is the last train of the day, if I were you, I would consider getting the train from Brentford half an hour earlier in case of delays.

That may be difficult for the OP. Without checking, I am presuming Cardiff City are playing a friendly at Brentford, the times seem to fit that anyway!

OK. He didn't make it very clear.

In that case, it doesn't even leave him with much time from the ground to Brentford station.

Yeah, I am due to be on the 23.23. There's a further train at 00.09, so presumably I could get on that?

Thanks

The away end is literally a 5 minute walk from the station, if that. Given its a friendly I'm sure I'll be out of the ground by 21.35.

Thanks for the replies.

I've booked an advance ticket from Brentford to Cardiff ...

I collected my ticket today
It appears that you booked the ticket online. If I intended to make this journey, I would return to the site I used to book the ticket and print the travel itinerary. This can then be shown to any member of rail staff should a connection be missed.
Tuesday 30 July 2013
21:53 Brentford - Feltham 22:06
22:16 Feltham - Reading 23:10
23:23 Reading - Cardiff Central 01:15
If either of my first two trains are delayed and I miss a connection, would I be allowed to get a later train out of Reading?
Yes. This is specified in the Advance ticket terms and conditions.
  • You must be at the departure station shown on your ticket in good time to catch the train. If you miss the first train on which you are booked for any reason, a new ticket must be purchased.
  • If delays occur while travelling, you will be allowed to take the next available train(s) to complete your journey.

If for any reason there's major disruption on Tuesday evening it's not too far from Ealing Broadway so you could make your way to Reading from there.

Enjoy the game... Even though you've just signed our goalkeeper :(

Ah, yes, the mysterious 0009, which was so elusive to me last night. ;)

Yes, as others have said, you will be allowed to take that one if you experience delays.

I would give it more than 5 minutes, unless you have been there before.

Booked using my phone, so have the journey stored in my phone, as a precaution.

Yes, appears that will go through tomorrow.

Haha, thanks.

I'll be going to the ground from Brentford station also, so will check the timing to make sure.
