Brent Cross/Farringdon to Chilworth

Does anyone have any suggestions for two passengers, one travelling from Brent Cross (or potentially Brent Cross West), and the other from Farringdon, to Chilworth on a weekday evening (during the evening 'peak').

Both return from Chilworth to Brent Cross (West) on a Sunday

Project Oval doesn't apply here, and there is no period return, so it's very expensive (in relative terms).

Splitting at Gomshall is the cheapest option found so far, but it would prevent travel via Guildford.

It's preferable to travel via Redhill on the outward journey (because one passenger is joining at Farringdon) but the return via either route.

Can anyone come up with anything better than the simple Gomshall split?

An off peak return from Brent Cross West is the most flexible option, but would be less convenient than travelling from Brent Cross.

Are the passengers willing to use tickets with roundabout routes?

Redhill and Guildford aren't the only options, via Dorking Main and Deepdene is a further and possibly shorter alternative, albeit with a roughly 5 minute walk between the two. This wouldn't be appropriate if either passenger has mobility problems though, as Deepdene platforms can only be accessed via longish staircases.

Outward Anytime Singles splitting at GOMSHALL as you suggest. Return CHILWORTH to Dorking DEEPDENE Single £5. Walk via steps to Dorking Main. Off Peak Single to Brent Cross West Route via City Thameslink £7.90

An Underground Zone 1 (or Zones 1-3) to Chilworth Evening Out Single isn't too badly priced. Based on the wording of the restriction code text, the evening restrictions wouldn't apply if boarding/changing at St Pancras or Farringdon and travelling via Redhill. This is replicated in the electronic restrictions applied by journey planners.

For some reason the equivalent single is more expensive in the direction towards London, so even though a Sunday Out Single would be perfect in theory, the two singles combined are more expensive than a period return from Brent Cross West.

I suppose it depends on whether the convenience of travelling from Brent Cross overrides the cost saving.
