Breaking journey in doubleback

Consider an anytime single from Earlsfield to Wandsworth Town. By Easement 700014, you are allowed to doubleback at London Waterloo. Could you use this ticket to break your journey at London Waterloo? What would the gateline staff think of it?

Although it's possible to interchange between many platforms at Waterloo without going through the ticket gates, it's not easy nor, I would guess, expected.

Journey planners wouldn't validate that because easement 700014 only refers to tickets with routes such as "Any Permitted", i.e. route code 00000. Earlsfield to Wandsworth Town tickets are routed 01000 (route "dot" or ".") so they are technically speaking not "Any Permitted".

I also definitely wouldn't suggest trying it in practice. The ticket would probably not work the barriers at Waterloo and is likely to be seen as an attempt to "short fare" by the gateline staff.

Earlsfield to Wandsworth Town tickets are routed 01000 (route "dot" or ".") so they are technically speaking not "Any Permitted".

Route dot was/is genuinely one of the stupidest ideas this industry has come up with in recent years.

Single-handedly responsible for so many problems. I've seen it screw up the RCS data as well (a particular ticket enabled for RCS assuming the flow uses route 01000, but in reality, the fares data using 00000).

I think it would work, but not convinced it's allowed. The subway to the Underground lets you go between most of the platforms at Waterloo without going through barriers.
