Breaking journey at Reading

I'm investigating which ticket(s) to buy for my journey tomorrow. I plan to go from London to Henley On Thames, then walk to Reading from there and return to London. I've looked up online and seen that going via Reading is valid so would I be okay to get a London to Henley return marked VIA READING? or would I then be stopped at Reading ticket barrier?

Seems perfectly fine to me with an Off Peak Day Return, Advantix says:

5. Break of journey is
permitted on both outward and
return portions of Off-Peak
Day and GroupSave Day tickets
unless otherwise indicated by
a restriction shown against
the ticket's_validity code.

The restriction is J9 which doesn't apply at weekends.

Also the Thames Branches Day Ranger is the same price (£15.50) as a 'route Reading' ticket, and you can get on and off as you please. (You can't travel via Staines on this ticket)
