Breakfast in Warsaw Centralna

The wife and I are taking the Night Sleeper from Budapest to Warsaw in a couple of weeks. No Dining Car on this train so having Dinner in Budapest the night before. Arrival time at Warsaw Centralna is 07:00 so was interested to see if anyone has any recommendations for Breakfast in Warsaw in or near Centralna Station. Somewhere with nice views or the Wow factor where we can eat and freshen up as we won't be able check in to the hotel till Midday. We'll only have light luggage (1 bag each - small Rucksack and one Ryanair Cabin carry on type suitcase with wheels) so can stretch to tram or bus journey if required.

I haven't been for some years, but the Hotel Jan Sobieski is a fine old building and a quality, busy hotel opposite the railway station. I seem to remember a colleague telling me that it was now managed by Radisson. But, whilst there may not be a view, it is, in my view, better and has so much more atmosphere than many of the modern buildings that have sprung up courtesy of the international hotel groups. Jan Sobieski was, I think, the last King of Poland.

Jan Sobieski, King of Poland 1674 -- 1696, is chiefly renowned for mounting a military operation which broke the siege of Vienna by the Ottoman Turks in 1683 -- reckoned a key move in repelling the then Turkish threat against Europe. The generally-reckoned last King of Poland was Stanislaw II August: reigned 1764 -- 1795.

Jan Sobieski was, I think, the last King of Poland.

Not the last, but he was famous for saving Vienna from the Turks in 1683.

Hotel Polonia is a classic hotel and, if I remember correctly, one of very few buildings to survive the war. It had a good breakfast and were within easy walking distance from Centralna.

Thanks for the replies. I'll probably go for the Hotel Polonia due to it's proximity to the station (and the Vodka Bottle at the Breakfast Buffet!)

Good choice: that was the last place that gave me champagne with breakfast...

Wonder if it's a Warszawa thing? I had vodka with breakfast at the local Mercure.
