Travelling from Birmingham New St to London Euston tomorrow mid morning coming back Saturday...... Want to Break journey at Milton Keynes Central for several hours..

Would an off peak return allow this..

Think it would but want to be sure.. lol

Yes, you're allowed to break your journey on the return portion on an off peak return regardless of whether it's Any Permitted or London Midland Only

On the outbound leg you may do so on the Any Permitted ticket

BRFares mentions nothing about forbidding BoJ so it must be allowed. It's not allowed on the LM only ticket though

Though, if your mate is getting on a train at Cheddington, and you want to join him on the xx47 from Milton Keynes, you are more than welcome to ask the barrier staff where you could smoke whilst waiting for this train - and you will be given an instruction to leave the station

But dos the OP need to leave the station? If you don't leave the station then surely it's not a BoJ.

EDIT:Ah, it was to be a break of several hours. I can see Milton Keynes station's entertainment facilities fading before then.

Not if the the OP holds a London Midland only ticket, BOJ is not allowed on the outward portion except to use station facilities or change trains.

Probably bad etiquette but its the same topic so I am going to ask another question on the same subject. With an off peak return from Liverpool to Southend I think I am right in interpreting that Break of Journey is allowed on the outward leg? So this means I can stop off in Stafford overnight en-route? If this is legit would I be wise to ask the ticket inspector to endorse my ticket to reflect this?
