Do any websites have the option of offering seat reservations that cover a break in journey?

For example, say you wanted to travel from Manchester to London and then on the way back you wanted to do an overnight break in journey in Birmingham, when an Off Peak Return is valid for your journey.

Trainsplit allows you to force a change and extend change times. Alternatively just buy the ticket then go to a booking office to make the reservations if you feel they are necessary. It's worth noting that despite several TOCs claiming compulsory reservations in the planners the only place they are actually compulsory for a seat is the Caledonian Sleeper.

LNER's website will do "just reservations" for their own services only - could do with something for all TOCs.

Trainsplit

Looks like a good set of advanced options. However, it only allows 99 minutes as the maximum change time. That means the longest possible change time it offers involves an overnight wait only until the first train of the next day. It also offered me a split costing £50 more than the Off Peak Return. Does a 2C restriction code mean an overnight break of journey isn't permitted, or does it just not work for that journey?

https://www.nationalrail.co.uk/2C (I won't quote it as it's very long)

...does not appear to contain a break of journey restriction. Perhaps Trainsplit can't cope with a ticket running through the night, or was it onto a weekday so the morning fell foul of a time restriction?

TBH I'd just buy the ticket and not bother with reservations, or if you really want them go to a booking office.

Think most folk just want when booking online is quickest and/or cheapest and/or easiest. What the OP is looking for is perhaps something of a niche requirement.

@Bletchleyite's advice, as ever, seems entirely reasonable, or maybe the OP can book through somewhere still offering telesales.

The bike reservation feature is particularly useful - I've long been after a site on which I could do that. An app would be even better, as would a seat selector*, but a site is a start.

* Trainsplit, how about it? Reservation only bookings with seat selector for say £1-£2?
