Hi all, would it be possible to do the following on a single Waterloo>Reading ticket?

Waterloo-> Wandsworth Town
BREAK JOURNEY FOR 1H
(Still using my WAT>RDG ticket)
Waterloo->Reading

Asking as I’m not sure if it’s allowed to break a journey on a slower route on the same line. Thanks

No problem, assuming you mean the second leg is Wandsworth Town to Reading (you can't start again at Waterloo). I have done a variant of that. But the gateline probably won't accept your ticket, you will need to ask to be let through.

If the second part is meant to be Wandsworth Town->Reading that would be fine. You can't go back to Waterloo and start the journey again though.

Should work with an e-ticket, but not a paper one.

I regularly do Earley to London Terminals (Waterloo/Victoria). When I stop at Clapham Junction, I can pass through the barriers with no issues using an e-ticket. Everytime I use a paper one, I have to be manually let through the barriers by Gate line staff.

UPDATE: I ended up buying an “evening out single” (whatever that means) from London Terminals to Reading. Tried to exit at Wandsworth Town. As predicted, ticket rejected by the barrier with code 135 but staff member let me through so all good. Thanks for your replies

An Evening Out Single is valid only in the afternoons and evenings, so is cheaper. An Evening Out Return also has restrictions on the times you can leave London. Not valid between 16.00 and 19.00 IIRC.

It's the SWR version (along with Sunday Out tickets) of Super Off-peak tickets.
