Break Of Journey Cardiff Central "8A Restriction Code"

Hey I'm thinking of doing a trip to Fishguard soon with a Poynton - Fishguard Off Peak Return

arriving into Cardiff at 0958 and then catching the train to Fishguard at 1054.

It's highly likely I'd want to exit the station at Cardiff Central to go to the nearest Tesco to get some Food/Drink however the ticket has an 8A restriction.

How likely is it that the barrier staff will refuse me exit or won't allow me back through onto the platforms to catch my onward train having exited the station.

You should have no problems. The gate staff at Cardiff have never done more than take a cursory glance at my ticket.

In any case, the whole idea that break of journey involves leaving the station is unenforceable due to the fact that if you want to have a smoke you have to leave the premises!

using station facilities is not breaking a journey and many facilities are on both sides of barriers, so if you wanted to go buy a ticket from the station car park machine you can do so without breaking your journey, hence unenforceable.

Quite. I have broken my journey at many large stations like Bristol Temple Meads. It would be ludicrous to rpeven tanyone from accessing the facilities, such as WH Smith, the ticket office, or M&S (or the smoking area!)

It's not that far either!

The ticket staff are usually nice, I've never had an issue, they are really nice,

I'm sure you already know where the nearest tesco is!

Yes, I have always found them very good at Caridff Central.

There's a Tesco Metro in St Mary's St, IIRC - and a Sainsbury's if you're interested!

It's easy to find, you basically come out of the station, walk up the path on the right of the bus station, turn right, walk down to the big street, turn left, walk down and it'll be on your right.

Sainsbury's as Greenback said is on the same street just down a bit further on the left!

.....and an M&S Simply Food on the concourse at Cardiff Central. Visiting which would definitely comply with the ludicrous '8A' restriction. :roll:
