Bratislava to Vienna

What are the ways to travel between Bratislava and Vienna? I know you can use train, coach or boat? Other than that I know little about the journeys.

It will be early December.

Any help really appreciated.

Bratislava Hlavni Nadrazi to Wien Sudbahnhof (may have transferred to new station by now) is PushPull worked and is about an hour.

Bratislava Petrazalka (bit out of town south of the Danube) to Wien Sudbahnhof is 3 Car EMU takes a bit longer.

and you can also take the train via Budapest or Breclav should you so desire

I think the boat along the Danube stops in October.

Neither Petrzalka nor the main station are convenient for the centre; you will have to take a tram, bus or taxi unless you like walking, so it could depend on where you stay. The main station has a more interesting repertoire of trains and movements.

Bratislava's a great city with good bars and eating, but cheap accommodation is limited.

stayed at Hostel Blues in Bratsilava last February, quite central, next to Tescos IIRC, main station is a bit of a hike but doable

The 14€ Euregio Slowakei Ticket allows one return journey between any station in Wien/Vienna and any station in Bratislava via either route and serves as a day ticket for Bratislava's public transport.

Trip www.twincityliner.com for the ferries. These ferries seem to run at weekends only in early December.

Expect an Austrian guard and German announcements as far as the border (at Marchegg on the more northerly route) and then a change-over to a Slovak guard and Slovak announcements.

Back in Feb 09 i took a Eurocity from Bratislava to Vienna ( came from Kosice) . There was a random border check on this service too.

What is the best way to get to Bratislava city centre from the Airport please?

Not near a station. The 61 bus that runs from the airport to the main station doesn't go near the centre, so you will then have to get a tram. The 96 bus goes over the river and might be convenient for Petrzalka.

Slovakia uses Euros, so keep some change for the ticket machines.

Taxis aren't that dear.
