It’s Spring 2026 and I’ve not heard or seen any works in regards to the Bransty Tunnel in Whitehaven.
I haven’t seen anything stating the reopening in ‘Spring 2026’ has been pushed back but I wouldn’t be surprised with 2027 from the lack of publicity or visible work.
Does anyone know the status of the works, if funding has been secured and when it’s supposed to be completed by?
The last I heard was the local MP confirming support had been provisionally agreed with the rail minister.
Makes quite the hassle getting south of Whitehaven at the moment and if not open soon is going to affect the summer tourism the local towns get!
