Brake van trips

Just curious, which (type) of van was it? The EDL was a regular on my old patch.

Another great brake van trip yesterday, as part of the same Gala, from Rowsley to Matlock. Cold in the wind despite the sunshine, but it did help that the haulage was Class 02 D2868, my first ever ride behind the type. Plus it was of course my choice to travel on the brake van train!

That's correct, it was either entering or departing the Northbound platform. I'm assuming entering, as changing to the Northbound Vic was a regular move.

Ah we rarely would have travelled northbound to Oxford Circus. We frequently went northbound from there to Baker Street.

I loved the places where you got a glimpse into another line, mostly round the east of the circle line near Aldgate. Plenty of squealing there as well!

An area of interest to me as well, but I fear we are straying OT, so to redeem myself one more view from a brake van, a clue (if one is needed) being this was taken from ex SR Pillbox DS 55724..

Plenty of brake van rides at Twin peaks gala this weekend.

One of the trains operating at the Llangollen Railway Branch Line Gala this weekend was a brakevan special - but they did also have their four wheel carraige in the rake of vans which comprised toads, shark and another van. Seemed very cosy and well filled so i stayed on the conventional train.

South Devon Railway offer freight train experiences with a couple of brake vans - toad and shark when I did it two years ago with a couple of wagons between. These are prebookable and was also very good - weather was nice which helped might not have been much fun if wet and windy!
