Braehead Railway Tracks

When on the bus going into Braehead, there’s a pair of tracks which lead into somewhere - I’m assuming JG Russel Freight Park.

They split right after Cardonald

Are these tracks ever used / will they be converted to tram tracks?

They appear in good condition and as if they were used daily but I couldn’t find anything

Don't know if they're ever used much these days. The line stops at the new shopping centre but used to continue to Renfrew with stations at Deanside, Renfrew (Kings Inch) and Renfrew (Porterfield Road).

I remember once seeing an idling 66 and some wagons (couldn't say what type) parked up not far from Braehead but that would be easily going on 15 years ago roughly.

More info below. Apparently not currently in use. Lines extend for almost a mile and three quarters after branching off the Up Gourock / Up Ayr lines at Cardonald Junction, which in turn is roughly halfway between Glasgow Central and Paisley Gilmour St.

This was an island platform station with a station building with canopies on all sides. Access was from the north end by a flight of stairs from a road overbridge carrying Old Govan Road / Old Renfrew

Sad that it's not in use anymore, would be nice to see a shuttle service operating to Braehead if they decided to invest some money into it.

Back in the 'sixties and 'seventies there were regular oil trains from the BP refinery at Grangemouth to Braehead Power Station, which was more or less where the new shopping centre is now. IIRC, they were mainly worked by class 37s - either singly or in pairs - and for a short time in the early 'seventies by class 29s, usually in pairs.
