Bradford-York off-peak return

I would like to ask if a Bradford (Yorks stns) - York off-peak return ticket allows a break of journey at Leeds on the outward portion? It seems all journeys require a change of trains at Leeds. By BOJ, I mean going through the ticket barriers twice at Leeds leaving and re-entering the platforms.

That's NOT a break of journey!

A break of journey is where you leave railway premises (except to change trains)

Examples that are NOT a break of journey include:

* Getting a Halifax-York ticket (same price as from Bradford) and walking between BDQ and BDI through Bradford city centre.
* Going to the Wetherspoons pub (in station premises) at Leeds for lunch

There is no restriction on break of journey with this ticket.

All journeys from Bradford Forster Sq require a change at Leeds. Direct trains are available from Bradford Interchange. The provision of direct trains is by no means a compulsion to take them. The shortest route is valid, direct trains are valid, and mapped routes (where applicable) are also valid.

that depends on exactly what he meant by 'leaving' (I can't tell if it means leaving the platforms or leaving the station)
there isn't a break of journey restriction on that ticket anyway

It means leaving the station (in the case of Leeds). There is a map of station facilities here.
