I have 2 questions. I am still a novice!
1-Is it possible to go to Maidstone Barracks or Maidstone east without using Underground?
2- Would passenger assist be available for travelling on Underground train?
Thank you

I’m sure more knowledgeable people will be along to help, but to begin with I think we’ll need to know where you’re travelling from!

Can you get to Westbury and thence Salisbury? If so then if the train from Salisbury stops at Clapham Jct you can get to Victoria and thence to the Maidstone East train. If it doesn’t then stay on and South Eastern to Strood and change for Maidstone Barracks.

Should be possible.

Worth noting that Maidstone Barracks is unstaffed (although SouthEastern do say they can arrange for help getting on/off trains if booked in advance), and not step-free, with steps from platform the road level. Depending on the sort of assistance required, Maidstone East would almost certainly be a better bet, as that also has ramped access to all platforms (albeit via the forecourt/outside, not direct from the ticket office).

PTSO or platform depending on the weather
Maidstone East is better for the town also and generally has 2tph, except around the middle of a weekday

Maidstone West is a bit further away with a complicated busy ring road to navigate and Maidstone Barracks is on the edge of an industrial estate and further away even more; however you can see the station platforms from Maidstone West

Others have suggested the best route - which may also be cheaper than going via Paddington, depending when you travel.

I would advise against changing at Clapham Junction for Victoria, though - the platform is on a sharp curve and if passenger assistance fails I think your husband would have difficulty getting off. Go to Waterloo and then from Waterloo East to Paddock Wood (step-free change) to Maidstone W or B.

Also - the journey planner will probably give the fastest route as changing at Salisbury and Basingstoke - I would stop for a coffee at Salisbury and wait for a direct train to Waterloo.

Probably best to go Bradford on Avon change Salisbury (might even be same platform) to Waterloo, then the walkway other side of concourse to Waterloo East for train to Paddock Wood, then change for Maidstone

If go to Paddington, will need to change at Bath (but there are lifts), could potentially get Elizabeth line Paddington to Abbey Wood, then a train to Strood, change for Maidstone
