Did a mytery trip to Clacton once.

Do/can locos even get to Clacton now?!

Part of the mystery is why anyone would want to go to Clacton ;), or did you mean misery? (Actually it isn't as bad as the press it gets).

The last regular locomotive workings would have been the class 360 deliveries, the loco only just fitting in the head shunt to run round. Pretty sure any workings have to be top/tailed now as the run round facility is no longer in use.

Engineering trains or NR track/OHL recorders still see loco's on the branch.

I also remember going to Clacton from Leeds on one. There were the trips which went to known seaside destinations as "previews" and then there were the mystery tours, which many passengers expected would also end up at the seaside. Cue disappointment for families with buckets and spades when one of these went to Birmingham on a Sunday.
