I was wondering what was the period / procedure in actually notifying the public that a passenger service on a line was being withdrawn by BR in the late 1950's and 60's.
For example, if a line's passenger service on a specific branch line was being withdrawn officially and stations closed say 2nd December, when would the closure notice have gone up, one month, two months before?
I presume these notices were also placed in local newspapers?
Would there have been a consultation period with the public first, if so how long would this typically take, or did BR just put up the notices anyway?
Thanks,
Andy.
