Boston to Manchester - Returning the Next Day

Hi all,

I'm travelling to Manchester on April 20th from Boston, and returning the next day.

I'll be leaving Boston (BSN) at 1350, then changing at Grantham/Nottingham (it's the same train) to get into Picadilly for 1737. I'll probably return on the 1143 out of Picadilly, changing at Nottingham on the way back, getting in at 1516.

The BSN - MAN off peak return is £34.90 with a railcard, but I can split this with BSN - SHF and SHF - MAN off peak returns at £19 and £12.20 respectively to get it down to £31.20.

Anybody know any ways of getting it cheaper? I don't mind travelling via Doncaster or Leeds.

Your best bet to get a very cheap fare is probably to make use of Trans-Pennine Express' 50% off 16-25 railcard advance tickets offer

For example, you can get the 15:42 from Doncaster to Picadilly for £3.45; and return on the 11:20 for £3.70. Added to a Boston-Doncaster super off-peak return (£15.50) and you have a total of £22.65
