Hello,

I'm travelling by train from Boston to Harrogate, this Saturday. A Boston - Harrogate Super Off Peak Return is £27.85, but ideally I'd like to get this cheaper. I have a 16-25 Railcard.

I have split tickets via Doncaster, which gives me Boston - Doncaster £14.70, and Doncaster - Harrogate £10.75 making £25.45.

The trains I'll be catching are (although I'll change to save money):

Boston 950 - Grantham 1043
Grantham 1115 - Leeds 1235
Leeds 1259 - Harrogate 1333

Harrogate 1750 - Leeds 1828
Leeds 1840 - Grantham 1956
Grantham 2136 - Boston 2229

Can I get it any cheaper?

Thanks

Oddly, advance tickets are available from Heckington, but not Boston.

So, on the trains that you suggest, you can get a £12.85 advance out and a £4.40 advance return. A Boston to Heckington return will set you back all of £2.85, total cost £18.10

Note that on the way out if you travel at either 08:02 or 11:04 (from Heckington that is) then you can go first class for £15, still puts you at £20.25 total

Boston - Adwick £14.70 SSR
Adwick - South Elmsall £1.20 CDR
South Elmsall - Harrogate SDR £6.10
Total £22

Well worth the extra for flexible, walk-on tickets.
Northern run hourly services from Doncaster to Leeds calling at Adwick & South Elmsall.

Thanks, I usually look at splitting via Heckington, as sometimes it can be a bit cheaper - didn't this time though!

Looks like there are no Heckington-Harrogate £4.40 returns, but there is a current First class discount (33% booking by midnight tonight - promo code FIRST) so I can do £13.75 each way, plus £2.85.

A football fan in First Class :!:
