I'm travelling from Borth - Porthmadog on Tuesday and have a couple of questions:

1. Can I double back between Dovey Junction and Machynlleth to avoid waiting in the middle of nowhere for over an hour. I can't find a specific easement (but I haven't looked that hard).

2. I'm pretty sure this allowed but want to chack - If I buy an Anytime Day Single (good value at £13.50) can I break at Tywyn for a few hours?

Thanks in advance!

GROUP STATIONS
Some stations are grouped together to improve interchange between trains
by offering customers access to a wider choice of train services and station
facilities. A customer may travel via any station in such a group, including
doubling back, provided that the group is on one of the permitted routes
between their origin and destination stations. This extended availability is for
interchange purposes only and does not apply where the origin or destination
stations are part of a group

MACHYNLLETH GROUP

What are Anytime tickets?

Anytime fares are fully flexible tickets, with no time restrictions on when you can travel. Perfect for people who need complete flexibility.

You can buy
Anytime tickets any time before you travel and you can use your ticket to travel on any train. With an Anytime ticket you can also break your journey at stations along the route of travel.

1 yes the staff all know the score
2 yes but if your traveling after 0915 the Cambrian Coast Day Ranger for £9.00 is what you should go for.
