Does anyone believe this is likely within the next decade or so?

Melrose would only be an an additional 2 miles or so, with Hawick a further 15 miles so that certainly seems plausible. The additional 50 miles to Carlisle may prove to be too much from a financial perspective for the foreseeable future.

Is there previous track from Tweedbank to Carlisle that could be utilised or would it be a complete new line?
