Bonn to Dusseldorf Airport (ticket advice)

Hi All,

Two of us will be travelling on Monday 26th August from Bonn to Dusseldorf Airport. We would like to break the journey at Cologne for a few hours on the way. Can we just get straight singles from Bonn to Dusseldorf Airport and break the journey, or should we get singles for each leg, or is there another ticket that would be more cost effective?

NRW-fare, valid on Regional trains (including s-bahn) only is €16,20 each and allows stopover

If you are leaving Bonn after 9am you might do better to buy a "Schöner-Tag-Ticket NRW". It costs €39.50 if you buy it online or from a vending machine (€41.50 at the ticket office) and is valid for upto 5 adults on all public transport within the state of North-Rhine Westphalia except IC and ICE trains. This ticket will be valid for all public transport in Cologne too.

An option would be to travel by 'Stadtbahn' supertram from Bonn to Köln via lines 16 or 18, both converted from what was an independent electric railway, the Koln-Bonner Eisenbahn (KBE)
