Was never involved myself (too young) but I remember the Wellingtons taking off from Ashbourne aerodrome. They came over so low you ciould see the wheels still spinning.

£3.5 million that's where this country has gone to pot, its easy council decide where its going to go some artists does it for free think of the publicity and a few council workers to erect it and change out of £4,000 or is that too easy

It's too easy. You've forgotten about the ground surveys, risk assessments, public conusltation exercises, planning enquiries et al.

It does seem a touch overpriced, and i'm no expert on monumental building and sculpture. I would hope it wasn't too ostentatious either, i do rather like the simplicity of our war monuments in general for instance. It's the British way of doing things. Simple and poingant.

It's great that that the heroes of Bomber Command should get a fitting memorial. Without their courage and dedication, I think the world would be quite different today.
