Just noticed Bombardier now sponsor Derby County FC... why on earth? Who exactly are they advertising themselves to?? :???:

Not that it cost very much to sponsor Derby these days I would think!

Shirt sponsors? Interesting! Wonder how much that costs! GC had an advertising board at Sunderland last season, I'd guess this season too, but not on the side visible to TV cameras, so probably cheap but visible to 35000 people every week... oh ok maybe 20000! ;)

Wasn't Hartlepool, saw them play a couple of times & would have remembered something like that.

I'm sure it was mentioned at the time, could have been Halifax though.

"Main sponsors" of Halifax Town AFC according to their website (I have too much time on my hands today) though not actual shirt sponsors. Maybe linked to their Bradford - Kings Cross via Halifax proposals...

Yeah it was, they started sponsering them months and months before Sunderland launched!

Bit of an odd choice for them perhaps, but the Aerospace arm is launching an assault on the small end of the market that Boeing and Airbus have sewn up.

Also, being shirt sponser isn't always about direct advertising to punters. It's useful in creative accounting, and makes for good material (both in the "community relations" section and general photographic) for the annual report.
