It's a shame Embraer don't enter this Market.

If they could make as good a product as the E-190 on a larger scale things could get interesting.

The E-190 is the best available commercial short -haul aircraft from my experience.

They've tried to and it has been a bit of a disaster.

The E-Jet E2 family is poorly sized and poorly priced and the generation has, so far, received far fewer orders and been received poorly by potential airlines. How poorly? Well, just 205 orders in the 9 years since it launched. Compare that to the 700 operated by US regional airlines alone of the original E-Jet series.

A core problem is the world's largest market for regional jets is the US. US airlines have strict scope limitations (contracts between unions and airlines on pay, who operates what etc. etc.) on the size of regional jets. An Embraer 175 with a US domestic first class section just about meets most. The Embraer 175 E2 does not and is far too heavy and capable for most of their needs (heavy and 'capable' = costly to operate). Failure to understand their core market is costing Embraer dearly.
