Boeing Sky style interior for trains

I am currently sitting an a IET in the hours of darkness with its very bright white LED strips and thought what a waste. Having just stepped off an 737-800 with its great all LED sky interior and thought why can't trains have this. During cruising it can display dimmer colour mood lights but can be changed to bright white or any colour to that matter.

Why do we have to have stupidly bright lights at night. At least voyagers are not as bright and like with HSTs the TM can put coaches to 1/2 lights although of course voyagers have reading lights.

You could at least have some coaches with dimmer lights.

Perhaps people would prefer to stay awake; trains are usually day trains (at least in Britain). Trains are generally better brightly lit at night.

I would prefer dynamic lighting on express services, like having mood lighting at night, but at every stop the interior illuminates in a plain white light as a cue for anyone not paying attention.

It might have something to do with vulnerability etc, everything has to be open and bright so vulnerable passengers feel safe/ are safer! Just like the removal of bulkheads made everything open plan - passengers generally felt safer.

Though, it would be nice if the main lights dimmed and, should you wish for illumination- have a suitably placed and decently bright reading light!

IET lighting is horrible, horrible, horrible on so many levels. Pretty much everything interior wise is way behind MK4. ECML travel is now like flying on one of those cheap internal flights.

I traveled on a Class 150 Northern service to Leeds yesterday morning and they had these fluorescent style LED lights that were super bright and totally uncovered!

These lights really can't be comfortable to passengers with eye conditions and those who are susceptible to migraines, like myself.

Why not dim the lights 50% or just stick a diffuser over them?

They're just cheap rubbish, like the rest of the franchise. I'm not clear why the tubes don't themselves contain a diffuser, though.

Quite agree Sir Bob.i have that problem,wearing shades helps some, ut they are way too bright.
