Blyth & Tyne to Ashington

Been told by someone who works at Lynemouth power station that their licence for burning coal has expired so there will be no more coal trains to the power station (and this has been the case for about six months). They have to burn their stockpile then the power station will close for 2 years to convert to biomass. So that means the only traffic on the Blyth and Tyne is down to the docks at Cambois.
I live right by the line and have noticed both boxes at Marcheys House and North Seaton are still staffed. Surely it would make sense if there is no possibility of anything running past there to close the boxes albeit temporarily. Is there anywhere else that has boxes open with no trains?

Are you sure you want that ? My guess is that if they were temporarily closed they would be vandalised beyond repair in a short space of time.

They "mothballed" the Leamside Line in the mid-90s with the same justification.

The chance of that ever re-opening is now pretty much nil.

If anything, they need to be using the reduction in freight as justification for getting some stations re-opened on the line.
