Blur at Wembley Stadium

Hi all,

I'm seeing Blur at Wembley Stadium on Saturday and staying in a hotel in Letchworth Garden City.

I know there's likely to be impact from the industrial action on the day and was looking for any recommendations on the best route to the stadium. The two main options seem to be changing at King's Cross or St Pancras to the Metropolitan line or changing at Farringdon to the Elizabeth and then Jubilee lines, each taking more or less the same time? Is one likely to be quieter than the other or is it likely to be pretty much the same, in which case the simpler route using the Met looks easier?

As for fare, am I best with a Super Off Peak Return Day Return from Letchworth to London Terminals (£10.40 with Disabled Persons Railcard) then switching to contactless?

Final question, I can see my Disabled Persons Railcard discount can also be applied to an "adult companion". Can that be a friend travelling with me? She may know what to do if I happen to have an epileptic seizure on the train but she isn't critical to me travelling independently!

I’d suggest the Met from either Kings Cross St Pancras or Farringdon, depending on the destination of your train from Letchworth.

A Super Off Peak Travelcard from Letchworth to London Zones 1-6 with your railcard is £15.35 which is what l’d go for. This covers your journey to London and back and gives unlimited trains, underground and buses once in London.

The Met is the much more sensible option. As well as being direct, it's a lot quicker because you aren't stopping at all the intermediate stations that the Jubilee line calls at.

You don't say how you're getting to Letchworth from where you start, but assuming you're driving or have already pre-booked Advance tickets for this, the most sensible option is to buy a Super Off-peak Day Travelcard from Letchworth, which with a Disabled Railcard costs £15.35. You can buy two of these, one for you and one for your friend.

You could, as an alternative, get your Oyster card (if you have one) linked to your Disabled Railcard, which would actually be cheaper, as a Railcard Discounted Oyster Pay As You Go single is only £2.10, so a total of £14.60. You'd have to ask staff at Kings Cross St Pancras LU station to do this for you.

The discount for a companion can be applied to anyone travelling with you, they don't have to be a carer. Note that they can't benefit from Oyster Pay As You Go discount.
