Blue ticket

I was in the ticket office at Piccadily and saw what appeared to be a blue version of the normal National rail ticket, given that I'd seen the metrolink tickets for the first time that day I wondered first of all what was the blue ticket and second of all how many variations are there on the standard orange national rail design are there?

There used to be a lot of different colours- not sure what the blue would be for- but almost all tickets are now on the standard orange.

Blue stock is indeed for seasons of one month or longer.

You get a royal blue ticket on the Heathrow Express, though it isn't in the same style as those baove (i.e. national use ones)

Thanks for all the replies guys, didn't know there were so many and I have to admit the metrolink and other usage of this design is good, consistancy in design is a good thing.

Dark blue tickets used to be used for advance purchase tickets (that is, ones purchased ahead of time, not necessarily what we'd know as 'advance' today). IIRC they had a space on the back for the clerk to write the reservation details.
