At Gatwick today and have noticed blue lights positioned on the platforms. Any ideas what these are for?
Thanks
Thanks
Supposed to have a calming influence that may help prevent suicide attempts

I've also noticed these - I suspect that it is to prevent drug use on the platforms.
I believe blue lights make it more difficult to find a vein.
Some Morrisons supermarkets have blue lighting in the toilets. I thought that was to stop people finding a vein.
You would too if you had to endure the holograms and continuous escalator announcements!I'm sorry but who on earth is shooting on gatwicks platforms!![]()
Not just suicides, but anti-social behaviour and crime too. Network Rail explains....

Downside is theres some recent research that blue lights disrupt your bodies biological clock and prevent you from sleeping disrupting sleep cycles. They found it wasn't psychological because the same effect was exhibited in blind people who still had eyes (and working photoreceptors) while the effect wasn't present in blind people who don't have eyes.
