Then again Rumour is that after this year the Illuminations might either be cut back to end earlier (October half term mentioned) or will only be on at weekends, to save money.

The North West news has reported that the illuminations will not extend as far north as in previous years this year due to many illuminations being damaged by a storm in November last year and there being less funds to replace them. However, I haven't heard anything reported to say 'weekends only.' I went on a Monday in October last year (not in school holidays) and they ran 4 tram tours of the illuminations that night (they only guarantee 1 and say they'll run as many as there's demand for on the night.)

Items for discussion will include extensions of the current tramway system to serve both Blackpool Airport and Blackpool North railway station. It will also examine the possible use of diesel and electric tram-train technology to link the tramway to the heavy rail routes which serve both Blackpool North and Blackpool South stations.

Oh not this again. The tram train idea has been touted before and there are some people with strong opinions against them. The question for tram trains is where do they stop Preston? Kirkham & Wesham? Maybe link up to the proposed Prestontrampower? (if they ever get around to working on it)
Next problem is the platform height.

I think that you may have misunderstood my posting. This matter to which you refer is not just a localised initiative, but part of a European Union five year project...this area is only one of five parts of Western Europe that the report will eventually cover. The two consultancies are:-

You have to have all preparatory work done by the consultancies first in readiness for this report to be put before the European Union committees, which in the case of the British one is Easter 2012.

There are similar preparation works in the other four countries running in tandem with the British report. As I said, this is a five year project. The British project cannot be viewed on its own, much as we would all like to see that happen.

These finances will be forthcoming, as and when (or even IF) the report's recommendations are deemed acceptable as being viewed as a project that will aid five peripheral parts of Western Europe. It will only then be possible to talk of operational matters, if the decision is a positive one.
