Isn’t there a neutral section at Slade Lane Jn.? That might explain the ‘loss’ of power, which would be even more noticeable if you’re in the PTS because of the very loud VCBs opening and closing.

The train left Levenshulme, lost most of it's power and coasted towards Slade Ln at 5mph. I doubt he would've reported on it if it was a normal thing.

No it wasn't in the neutral section , it was the other side after leaving towards Manchester Piccadilly, we'd barely left the platform when it happened. The brakes didn't work until the power came back so we coasted at low speed for 2-3 minutes towards the junction. The cab to cab phone rang straight away and there was an announcement to say we lost all traction power after it all came back.

Coincidentally I was on a 323 in the other section where most of the lights except the emergency ones went out arriving into Stockport one day earlier in the week.

The brakes would have worked irrespective of traction power being lost, they're failsafe. Even on CAF stock which seems to be made mostly of cheese.

The overhead neutral section near Levenshulme is at least a quarter of a mile on the Heaton Chapel side of Levenshulme station, so if a train managed to leave Levenshulme then the neutral section wasn't a factor.

If power was lost for just 2-3 minutes that sounds like the TSC breaker operating for some reason and the ECO waiting the 2 minutes before reclosing the breaker
