Yes those that state facts without any source often post complete wibble.

Here is a link to the planned timetable for 1K67 0917 Manchester Piccadilly - Leeds (TP) on 21st May, a TPE service calling at Stalybridge, Greenfield, Marsden, Huddersfield, Deighton, Mirfield, Ravensthorpe, Dewsbury, Batley and Morley.

And to 1K11 0847 Manchester Piccadilly - Hull (TP) calling at Stalybridge, Mossley, Slaithwaite, Huddersfield, Dewsbury and Batley.

I suggest you also read the first page of the May 2018 Timetable Changes thread on the Allocations forum where several posters, including moderator IanXC, discuss the new TPE stopping services. All of these posters indulging in speculation ???

Pity poor Batley, reduced to 1 Northern service per day from May, from Leeds at 5.30 in the morning.

That is a bit of an OTT reaction, I meant taking over the sixth service, something which you didn't actually clarify. Its been stated by TPE staff on this site that the TPE change is going ahead in May despite the Bolton electrification setback.

Stories doing the rounds in Blackpool that Blackpool Transport have been asked to provide buses from North for an additional "upto 9 weeks". I also understand for someone who works for one of that contractors that they are still awaiting final specification from Network Rail for certain issues around Poulton. I suspect one of those is Holts Lane crossing which needs full planning permission and still hasn't received it and is unlikely to in it's current planned form.

What do you expect when you falsely accuse me of posting speculation when posting fiction yourself?. Let me remind you what was said:

But TPE can't delay the return of the 185s for a few weeks if they are to run the new TPE North timetable, that's the whole reason for switching stopping services to TPE, Northern's Sprinters/Pacers can't meet the timetable
The TPE takeover of stopping services is not due until December, the May timetable change diverts Scarborough services via Chat Moss, uses the Ordsall Chord and extends York services to Newcastle. It only requires two extra units i.e. the Mark III sets. Half the posts on the forum are speculation!

I was talking about both the Hull service and the new Leeds service which are taking up the calls vacated by Northern, if you specifically meant the sixth service, you should have said so yourself, trying to blame me for not clarifying something you said beggars belief. It is also completely academic, because it is untrue that the takeover is not due until December, as the links I posted show. All the TPE North stopping service changes are due in May, none are due in December. TPE will require 185s to run the new, sixth Manchester-Leeds service from May.

Its been stated by TPE staff on this site that the TPE change is going ahead in May despite the Bolton electrification setback.

I'm afraid that given the amount of unreliable mess room chit chat that gets posted on these boards, with due respect to whoever posted this, I'll await official confirmation of this. However if true, it just confirms that TPE will have the necessary 185s to run the new Piccadilly-Leeds service from May.

I'm not going to bore other posters by commenting any further more on this matter, post #5908 provides a succinct commentary on this nonsense.

An internet forum is an informal social space  if you want detailed and referenced information it is the wrong place. Part of the fun of posting here is speculating how things may happen.

I would think that would result in an emergency temporary closure of the foot crossing rather than delay reopening the Line

I've just looked up Holts Lane on the Wyre Borough Planning portal (ref 17/00724/FUL) that's quite a substantial ramp they're proposing.

I know, I was a consultant in several for 30 years! What is in the pictures is what you put in last; they may still be commissioning and (back on topic) Manchester-Preston isn't at that stage by any means.

Oh dear someone on here has missed the point in that most of us seek information or share up to date information on progress with rail projects, I for one am glad that some go out of their way to keep the rest of us up to date with fantastic pictures of progress
If you want to deal in speculation and fantasy you should be writing for Rail

So what's going to be done about the terrible ground conditions? I can remember on the Wharfedale Line there used to be a 20mph speed limit for up trains just between Ben Rydding and Burley because of really unstable and damp ground and an issue with slumping. They only sorted that out a couple of years ago.

That location was quite noticeable for many years prior to Electrification with an approx 250mm drop in rail levels.
When masts were installed they were TTC's from the outset, installed on the uphill (Down side) side of the tracks.
A major rebuild of the trackbed did improve the levels and I believe no problems have arisen since.

Are the ground conditions similar to those at Eden Brows in the Armathwaite area on the Settle to Carlisle line that were worked upon last year?

Plenty of work going on at the Crescent. No sign of action on platform 2 but lots more attachments going up.

Yes, I'm not sure if that was seen as a big issue prior to heavy rainfall.

Have many of the drilling issues on Manchester to Preston occurred on embankments? If so they run the risk of a landslip, closing the line again.

Presumably they're trying different locations for masts and different foundation techniques. I haven't heard of the track being affected.

Cheers Dave
Plenty of work trackside at Chorley, new mast at Blackrod and a new large base about to be constructed as per photos, it’s odd where these bad ground contortions seem to be but nonetheless they seem to be getting amongst it

Carrilion Rail by all accounts is one of the only profitable bits. So hopefully it will get sold off quick in the advent of administration with work effectively uninterrupted.

It is very possible that the group won't enter administration anyway. A debt for equity swap would solve the company's immediate problems and give it time to sell off parts and reduce to a smaller profitable business. The banks who are the major creditors have expressed interest in this solution. Its unlikely that the current problems will cause the closure of the rail division or stoppages on electrification schemes.

Thank you ALX

I think we are all disappointed with the delay announced for completion of the project but I think every single day and night that passes there is progress. This small detail on this one mast shows this to be the case. I look forward to an electric throughout from Manchester Airport to Preston via Bolton and Chorley this year.
