Anything we've bought from Amazon recently, bar one delivered by UPS, has had Royal Mail as its end provider, so much for competition when the competitors use Royal Mail to deliver 'their' post

I ordered 3 items from separate sellers on Amazon. One item says dispatched Royal Mail, one says dispatched with no courier information, and the other hasn't been dispatched.
I also placed an order with Sports Direct, A yodel reference has been supplied.

But then if you order online you run the risk of dealing with Amazon Logistics (which has some connection with Yodel)

Amazon Logistics isn't any one company. It mixes Yodel with many other couriers, often local ones or self employed ones paid peanuts and made to do 80-100 drops in a day.

Problem is, Amazon decides and so you never know how reliable a delivery will be. That's why I try and use the lockers now for everything that can't come through my letter box.

Same. I've been in flats the last few years, which sometimes causes problems as the couriers can't leave packages in a "safe place" (i.e., can't find the glaringly obvious safe place in the cupboard under the stairs), so return it to the depot. I much prefer getting my packages delivered to the locker, as it's convenient for me and means that I'm not faced with a trip to a warehouse in Edinburgh to collect my parcel.

Of course, not everyone has a convenient locker, I've been very lucky for the last 16 months!

Totally agree with you, although I think you should have said 'another' load of hype imported from the USA along with the stupidity known as Thanksgiving Day and the appalling spelling and pronunciation SKEDULE

After Tesco sold off the services the Hudl was partly intended to promote, and Tesco's refocus on its 'core business' the Hudl side of the business was closed down. There was no falling out that I'm aware of, rather a decision not to try and compete in the tablet market - when Tesco can and does sell cheap tablets from other manufacturers.

The Hudl2 was stupidly cheap in the last few weeks of its sale, down to just £49 if you had enough Clubcard vouchers. It sold out in no time at all, hence why some people are trying to profit from reselling them online.

Tesco is promising to keep supporting the Hudl2 although I am not sure if that will definitely mean it gets Android M. It got Lollipop recently though, so clearly there can't have been a falling out with the Chinese OEM as they would have been the ones that did the update (and other bug fixes) on behalf of Tesco.

Looks like someone I was speaking to was miss informed or I misunderstood what he was on about.

I'm not keen on buying products that are not developed. I buy software and it annoys me when they don't develop it further.

The Hudl 2 was only a year old. I guess for hundred pounds you can't expect much in terms of future updates.

Tesco is promising to keep supporting it for a while, and I think it's a shame they pulled the plug on it as it was still a perfectly capable tablet even one year on. For the money it was (is) unbeatable as Google stopped making the Nexus 7, and the Amazon stuff is really quite low spec (and arguably quite restricted thanks to its locked down version of Android).

I do hope someone makes something comparable soon.
